MEF certification

What does MEF certification mean?

Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) certification is a globally recognised standard for fibre network technical performance and quality.
Vector is the only network operator in New Zealand – and one of only 46 operators worldwide – to be certified by the MEF. This marks VectorFibre MetroEthernet as a truly world-class service that can meet the toughest requirements for performance and reliability. And that means your organisation can connect with confidence when using our services.

For a guide to MEF certified Carrier Ethernet services and the key differentiating factors between MEF Certified Networks and Non-MEF Certified Networks.

What is the MEF?

Founded in 2001, the MetroEthernet Forum (MEF) is a global industry alliance with more than 150 members, including telecommunication network operators, service providers, manufacturers, vendors and testing organisations.

The MEF develops technical specifications that are used by equipment manufacturers and network operators to create and deliver carrier Ethernet services in Europe, Asia and the USA. These specifications are regarded as the gold standard, and are relied upon by the world’s most demanding telecommunications users as a measure of quality.
